DPDP Compliance Assessment and Gap Analysis

A structured, non-disruptive review of personal data flows, notice mechanisms, consent records, vendor DPAs, and security safeguards. We deliver an Executive Risk Register and a prioritized 30-60-90 day remediation roadmap.

Finding your real exposure before enforcement begins

Many organisations assume compliance is primarily a paperwork exercise. In practice, our gap assessments consistently discover that an organisation's largest statutory liabilities lie in unmapped data pipelines: legacy database replicas containing customer phone numbers, marketing pixels firing without notice, cloud storage buckets accessible without role-based access, and subprocessor contracts lacking enforceable data protection clauses.

A DPDP Compliance Gap Assessment provides an objective, executive-level diagnostic of where your organisation stands today against the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the notified DPDP Rules. We tell you what needs immediate remediation, what is already satisfactory, and what can be scheduled over time.

Our 4-stage assessment methodology

  1. Stage 1: Discovery & Scope Confirmation

We establish engagement boundaries under mutual NDA. We identify in-scope legal entities, web/mobile applications, customer databases, employee records, and third-party SaaS vendors.

  2. Stage 2: Structured Control & Data Flow Interviews

We conduct focused 45-to-60-minute interviews with functional leads (Engineering, Product, IT Ops, HR, Legal). We trace personal data entry points, consent logs, access hierarchies, and retention practices.

  3. Stage 3: Evidence Review & Statutory Gap Analysis

Our specialists cross-reference observed workflows against DPDP statutory clauses: Section 5 (Notices), Section 6 (Consent), Section 8 (General Fiduciary Obligations), Section 12/13 (Data Principal Rights), and Rule 7 (Breach Reporting).

  4. Stage 4: Executive Presentation & Roadmap Delivery

We present our findings to leadership and engineering heads. We provide an Executive Risk Register ranked by CVSS/exposure severity and a sprint-aligned 30-60-90 day engineering roadmap.

Deliverables produced in this engagement

At the conclusion of the gap assessment, your team receives four working artifacts:

  • Personal Data Flow Inventory (ROPA Map): A complete register categorising data types, collection purposes, lawful bases, storage locations, and outbound processor transfers.
  • Clause-by-Clause Gap Assessment Report: A formal diagnostic document assessing your posture across every applicable statutory obligation under the Act and Rules.
  • Executive Risk Register: A quantified risk matrix identifying high, medium, and low-priority vulnerabilities with assigned remediation owners and target resolution windows.
  • 30-60-90 Day Remediation Roadmap: Actionable engineering and policy tasks formatted for immediate import into project management tools (Jira, Linear, ClickUp).

What we require from your team

To keep the assessment swift and non-disruptive, we require:

  • Nomination of an internal project coordinator (typically a VP Engineering, Product Lead, or Operations Head).
  • Availability of key stakeholders for 3 to 4 short discovery interviews over the first 10 days.
  • Read-only sample access to public-facing sign-up screens, privacy notices, and cookie banners.
  • Sample vendor agreements and Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) for cloud and SaaS suppliers.
Security hygiene notice

We never request production database credentials, master encryption keys, or sensitive customer databases. All architectural reviews are conducted using configuration exports, schema diagrams, and sanitized walkthroughs.
